A Emperor’s Saints army may be joined by Asaph. If you decide to take him then he counts as a HQ choice for the Army. He must be used exactly as described below and may not be given extra equipment. In addition he may only be used in a battle where both players have agreed to the use of special characters.

WARGEAR: Bolter, Terminator Honors, Rosarius, CURIS VALDE

SPECIAL RULES:

Independent Character: Asaph is an independent character and follows all the Independent Character special rules as given in the Warhammer 40k rulebook.

Command Squad: Asaph may be accompanied by a Command Squad, See the appropriate entry in Codex: Space Marines.

Curis Valde: The Curis Valde is an ancient power spear that Asaph discovered after receiving a vision from the Emperor during the Purging of Bonston IV. Due to the spears exceptional length Asaph is able to hit his opponents from a distance in HtH. To represent this Asaph may strike first in any turn that he is charged.

"For I am the Might of the Emperor": Even prior to receiving his vision from the Emperor, Asaph was a noted orator amongst the Saints. His sermons filled the marines with pride and battle lust. His strongest sermons often came in the evenings prior to a battle. Since his vision Asaph faith in the Emperor has grown ten fold from that of a normal Chaplains faith and devotion. He believes that he is the tool of the Emperor to smite the wicked, the heretic, the mutant. So strong is his faith that the Emperor will protect him that Asaph has often had to be dragged from the battlefield in instances where a withdrawl is called for. To represent this Asaph NEVER falls back. If called upon to take a Fall Back test he automatically passes without the dice needing to be rolled. If attacked by a weapon or creature that causes troops to fall back without a test, then the instructions to fall back are ignored. This also applies to any unit led by Asaph.
