Ok this was originally going to be in the Bolter and Chainswords Dreadnaught Painting Contest. However I wasn't able to finish it in time...so here it is now. The Dreadnaught GINKO.
Now you might be saying to yourself, Ginko? What kind of name is that for a Dread? Well if you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend the 40k WebComic Turn Signals on a Land Raider. You too can follow the on the table adventures of the Emperor's Pointy Stick's Chapter. With such characters as Sgt.'s Larch and Maple or the Land Raider Super Jackhammer Carrier Tank you are sure to life at the trials and tribulations of a gamers army.
That last picture is of the chest detail. It just the pick -- no thumbnail to a larger picture on that one.
Weathering on the legs was done with blue, grey and white weathering powders to simulate concrete dust. The weathering on the lascannon tips and the missle arm was done with just black weathering powder. The weathering on the engine exhausts was done with rust brown, white and black weathering powders. I took a lot of inspiration (particularly for the banner) from this TSOLAR comic: Ooooh right in the Heraldry!
Thanks to Steve Campbell (TSOLAR creator) for giving me the okay to not only make the dread but do whats coming up starting tomorrow for it -- Ebay auction with 20% of the proceeds going to the TSOLAR website. I will add the link to the main page tomorrow night when it goes up.
